As an athlete, I had always been active and did not ever worry about my weight. Then, I became a stay-at-home mom and stationary. I didn’t know how to be active with an infant. About 5 years later, I had a rude awakening when I started playing on a ladies fast-pitch league. I realized I had become weak, lost my endurance, and was not stable when running. I took it upon myself and started walking, hiking, and worked out with videos. It didn’t take long before I was bored and began to seek out something to supplement my workouts. I decided that a membership at the Community Center was not only feasible, but would also be the thing that would keep me motivated and active. It was a change of pace, but like the other workouts I became bored.

About a year ago, I finally foMary und my thing to keep me motivated! After attending Fierce Body Boot Camp with Debbie Jones, I immediately became addicted to her motivation and workouts! It was the thing that made me feel accountable, excited, motivated, and COMMITTED! I felt results within the first month. When I started with Debbie I could barely use 10lb dumbbells during a session. Now, I am getting ready to move up 20lbs! However, after about 6 months I hit a plateau. Neither the scale nor my measurements would budge. Thankfully, Debbie pushed me to the next level! She encouraged me to evaluate my diet and told me that I could drop some weight. I followed her direction and within 2 months I had dropped 2 additional inches and 10lbs! I cannot thank Debbie enough for pushing me out of my comfort zone and forcing me to face my true demon….. Mr. Diet!

Debbie keeps every workout mixed up. You’ll never do the same workout. You’ll come to appreciate “Muscle Awareness” the day after she targets a set of different muscles! You’ll become part of the family!! BUT most importantly, you’ll reach your personal goals with the support and encouragement form Debbie and your fellow Boot Campers!! And if you don’t have a personal goal, Debbie will help you set one!

I was approaching the age of 45 with a 2 year old grandson and another grandbaby on the way. I asked myself, “What kind of grandma do I want to be”? I decided I wanted to be the kind that runs, jumps, plays catch and dances in the rain. I want my grandkids to remember me as the in shape, active grandma! Now, how do I get this accomplished?

Well, a friend introduced me to a boot camp (Fierce Body Boot Camp) and after a couple weeks I was hooked! I’ve tried many exercise routines and this is the only one I’ve fully committed to. Why? Because I love it and it works!

Mary Lange

Not only do I feel better it has given me the confidence to try new things. I’m hiking mountains I never thought I could and even did an obstacle course suspended up in trees. Who knew I had it in me! I’m now the grandma I want to be and will continue with this journey. Who knows, I might even run a marathon or compete in a triathlon one day. They sky is the limit and Debbie Jones and all the other campers make me believe every day that I can!

Yolanda Barron
Turning 40 with 3 adult children and my marriage falling apart, I looked in the mirror and saw an overweight, unhappy person that needed some change.  I wanted to get serious about the next parts of my life and needed something, someone to help me get this done.

Yolanda

In mid-2010 I met Debbie Jones. She and the Fierce Body Boot Camp family, gave me what I needed. I have been working out with the group for almost 2 years, my weight has dropped 20 plus pounds, my stomach is flat and I feel really good about wearing bikinis again! I always did some exercise like step class or hiking, but Boot Camp helped me really get into great shape. And I get to have fun working out with a great group of people every week!

Evie
Hi my name is Evie. I was born with a hole in my heart, but it was not found until I was 14 years old and I needed to have emergency surgery to have it fixed. Due to the fact that it had been left unchecked, for so many years it caused my heart to be weakened. A month after I had surgery, I had a stroke that caused my left side of my body to be paralyzed. The cause of this was a clot in the heart from surgery.

Evie

When I was 21, I needed a second open heart surgery to fix my aortic valve and arch. This caused my heart to become even weaker. The doctors said that eventually I would need a heart transplant in maybe 10 years. So in the mean time I continued life, with accomplishments like graduating from Bethany College in 1998. The day after graduation, I was told my heart rate was very high and there was nothing more that could be done other than a heart transplant. I was put on the list for transplant list July of 2000. Although there was a call in September for a heart, it would not come through. I had to be placed into the hospital until a heart could come through which did occur on April 16th 2001 4 PM a nurse came into the room and told me a heart had arrived. The surgery took place and I awoke feeling great.

After the surgery I had started exercising, but soon stopped and started to gain weight. I found it hard to even walk without having loss of breath. By chance one day I had met Cassie Miener on Facebook. I learned her husband had a liver transplant.

One day she mentioned going to a “boot camp” and a great instructor she exercised with. I was a bit nervous, scared and unsure, wondering if I could do it. I found that she worked with me individually and made sure that I could handle the class.

Soon I started to feel better and started to lose weight I had gained. I also had an appointment with my cardiologist who also commented that I looked great, like a teenager.
In all I feel much better, get stronger and will continue to attend Fierce Body Boot Camp with Debbie, since it has changed my life!

I’m an ex college pitcher (and yes, pitchers are athletes!). I was always the tall, skinny guy on every team. No matter how many times I tried to “hit the gym” or try different diets, nothing seemed to help put weight on these bones.

Armando Telles

I started attending Debbie’s boot camp in the summer of 2011. I was immediately hooked! Although everyone in class was trying to lose weight, I was on a different plan: Try to gain as much weight as I can, but do so by gaining muscle mass so I don’t look like the Goodyear Blimp (No offense Goodyear! You do an excellent job with your aerial views during NFL games, but I don’t want to ever look like you!)! Debbie understood the challenge I faced with putting on weight and revamped the workouts by adding more reps, weight or simply by challenging my stamina.
In April 2011 I weighed a lousy 151 lbs. Today my weight fluctuates between 195-205 lbs. Debbie and her marvelous workouts helped me gain over 50 lbs! I went from being scrawny to having a Fierce Body!

Mary Wiley-Hale
My story begins 16 years ago, at the age of 30, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was stage four, the final stage in the cancer stages. I did a clinical trial that kicked my butt, worse than any morning at boot camp!  But 16 years later, I am still cancer free!

Mary Wiley-Hale

Sadly, two years after I was cancer-free, I couldn’t walk, it got progressively worse until I was using a walker to get around. After numerous different specialists, I found out that now I had Avascular Necrosis (AVN), this one would be with me for life! AVN is a disease where there is cellular death of bone components due to interruption of the blood supply. Without blood, the bone tissue dies and the bone collapses. It doesn’t have anything to do with bone density, it is all about the blood supply being cut off to the major joints. AVN can impact all the major joints, but is most commonly presented in hips and shoulders. The doctors figured that the Prednisone I had taken during chemotherapy was the primary factor which caused me to get AVN, there is a 2% risk factor for Prednisone users to get AVN (high-dosage only). That is why I couldn’t walk, my left hip bone had completely collapsed, I had no ball joint left. I had to do a lot of persuading (aka yelling) at my orthopedic surgeon to get him to do the surgery. They didn’t want to do a hip replacement on a 33 year old, because of the multiple revisions that I would need in my lifetime. Well, I won out, and got my new hip. Then I moved out to Phoenix two years later from Michigan.

Several years passed by and no problems, I enjoy hiking and have done Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim in the Grand Canyon. Not bad for an artificial hip, with no signs of stopping! Coming home from work one day, I had noticed that my shoulder really hurt, and I hadn’t remembered picking up anything heavier than my laptop bag. It got progressively worse over the course of a couple of weeks to where I had it in a sling. AVN strikes again! I knew shoulder replacements were trickier than hip replacements, I had seen friends with lots of failed operations. When the pain went away, I couldn’t raise my arm over my head. The orthopedic surgeon advised that even with surgery, he couldn’t promise better range of motion. I opted to keep things the way they were, rehab really sucks!

Coming back to my challenge with gyms over the course of the 11 years I have been here, most don’t know what to do with me. They think if they stretch my arm out it will work. Not the case, it makes it worse! I can’t tell you the times I have gone back to the surgeon afraid I have really messed it up this time, and he shakes his head every time and says “no weight bearing exercise”! Call me stubborn, which is probably why I am still on Earth. I knew there had to be a place where I could still get a good work out in without causing problems with my shoulders. They both are affected, just the one is frozen.

Boot Camp and Debbie Jones, had really been the answer all along! From our first meeting, Debbie was innovative in crafting workouts for me. She gave me baby steps, while everyone else was groaning over burp-bees, I was touching my toes and jumping in the air. But I stuck with it and now almost a year later, my burp-bees aren’t beautiful, but I can manage to do a couple before the shoulder starts talking to me, which ignore for a bit. I’ve gone from 5 pound weights to 10 pound weights, and I’m even thinking of going to 12 (but don’t tell Debbie)! I am able to hold planks and working on forearm planks now. Some mornings I feel like I am playing Russian roulette with my half-way good shoulder, but I’m willing to play that game, because I feel so great at the end of every workout. I know that my back muscles are getting stronger, and compensating for my shoulders. While I will never be lifting the big weights, I’m still moving, and that’s what really counts. Thanks Debbie for believing there had to be a way and being creative. Not to mention, coaching and mentoring me through it. I can’t believe the difference in what I can do now, versus when I first started.

Gretchen Chalmers
I bought a groupon in December 2010 for Bootcamp. Like so many others I wanted something different in a workout and boy oh boy did I get it!! I started going in January and have never stopped! I guess you could say I’m addicted! I have always been athletic and very physical. After all I’ve been a firefighter almost 20 years & the physical demands of the job can sometimes be pretty tough. I had been on a weight loss adventure since having my son at the age of 41 (yikes I know why women have babies when they’re young)

Gretchen Chalmers

I just celebrated my 49th birthday! I’m happy to say that I’m in the best shape of my life! I know for fact that bootcamp is one of the reasons why. I love everything about this bootcamp! It would not be what it is without Debbie Jones running it!! Debbie is an amazing instructor and trainer! She will push you beyond your limits so you get the best workout ever! It amazes me that I’ve never done the same workout twice! She mixes it up so well that it’s always different. Even after going for 18 months…she still can challenge me! Debbie is not only a fantastic bootcamp instructor but she sets an example for everyone by staying in great shape herself! She’s always talking about nutrition and has given out some great healthy recipes! She really cares about her “campers”! Debbie Jones is definitely the difference in this bootcamp and the reason I never miss a workout! Keep up the fabulous instruction and I will never quit!

All the Best for continued success,
Gretchen Chalmers

Randall Mains
Hi, my name is Randall Mains, after being an athlete in High school and College I basically have led a sedentary life style in front of computers. Now that I am middle aged, I’ve decided it’s time to take charge of my health, so my wife signed us up for bootcamp! I’ve been doing it for about 3 months and I am hooked.

Randall Mains

I feel better, have more energy and I am losing weight! In the beginning I could hardly make it through a workout, and now I am going to the early morning class and I’m able to complete the workout feeling good. I still have a ways to go, but I am sticking with Debbie at the bootcamp, because there are new challenges and workouts every week and the personal attention she gives to everyone is a Bonus!!

FINALLY, after over 25 years of trying different workouts, gyms, personal trainers & even buying into several exercise informercial claims I have figured out the key to health and fitness. There is no magic pill or other gimmick that will make you look and feel good. It is a combination of the right diet, good old hard work- sweat and exercise!

Curt Thurman

I was introduced to Debbie Jones by my wife, Sam, after the workout I was doing just wasn’t challenging me any longer. Sam started working out with Debbie and after one month was seeing results. She knew I would enjoy the variety Debbie puts into her workouts and especially the results! After one “Bring a Friend Wednesday” class I was hooked!

A year later and 50 plus pounds lighter, I am still enjoying the ever changing and challenging workouts Debbie puts together each week. She has a knack for developing fun yet effective workouts that hit all the major muscle groups to give you the perfect workout! Thank you Debbie for giving me the vehicle to help transform my body into what it is today. I would have never thought I would be “high school skinny” wearing size 34 again. Especially, since I found myself for the last several years relegated to the “Big Man” section searching for size 44 pants.

Thank you Debbie!
